There is a story that the Jinghpaw people usually tell. It is about not looking down on anyone just because they are small. Once upon a time, there was a bird called Shingtung La which had fewer feathers. People also call it Kagum Naw. It is a small bird. Shingtung La made a nest on the path that the elephants usually took. One day, she hatched some chicks. Her babies were still in their newborn stage. At that time, a group of elephants walked along that way near her nest. She thanked them, "My friends, we have built our nest here near you. I am really thankful to you. Please, don't step on us." She said thankful words and made a request at the same time. Then the elephants passed along that path very gently. When the last big elephant arrived there, the Shingtung La asked him to pass gently. However, the last elephant said, "How could you stay in our way? Why are you telling us how to walk?! How dare such a small bird speak like this! How dare you speak to us like that! It's up to you whether you move or not!" He just stepped on her nest, and her three newborn babies died. The Shingtung La couldn't forgive the elephant. She swore, "I will definitely take revenge on that elephant! I will make friends with others to take revenge on him." She decided to take revenge. She thought of giving one of her dead babies to a fly to eat, another to a crow, and the third to a frog. She went to them and said, "I have a big problem. Please help me. I will be in trouble if you don't help me." She asked for their help. They said, "We will definitely help you as much as we can." She said to them, "My friends, I don't have anything special to give you for helping me. I have my three dead babies. I will give one to each of you as a gift." The elephant was in so much pain and felt really unhappy. He was getting angry since he was in pain. (In the past, animals understood each other's languages.) When he was furious, the frog provoked him, "You ill-treated the Shingtung La. How could you not dare to attack me?" The frog kept making provoking sounds at the elephant. The elephant got really angry and tried to stomp the frog to death. But he fell into the ravine and died. The elephant was big, but he died because of the small, wise Shingtung La.
