The Jinghpaw people usually use memorial objects to strengthen bonds. There is a story the Jinghpaw people usually tell. In the past, there was a family with two daughters in a village. The father always wanted his two daughters to be close and united. The parents were aware that the two sisters would be separated when they got married. Then they discussed, "How can we make our two daughters stay close and love each other from their hearts?" We use plastic combs now. In the past, they were made of wood and were half-moon shaped. It looked like the moon on the eighth day of each month. We used to use that in the past, but now we don't. We can easily buy it in the market. We made the wooden combs beautifully and used them to comb our hair. The girls used them a lot to comb their hair. The father called his two daughters and said, "My daughters, you will be separated when you get married. It will be difficult for you to meet and ask for help when you are in trouble. So, keep this as a bond between you so that you can meet again." He cut the comb in half and gave each sister a piece. Later, both their parents passed away. The girls kept the comb safely. One day, Ma Lu was looking for a man to marry after receiving half of the inheritance. Then she became close friends with a boy from a rich family. Later, she married him. Meanwhile, Ma Kaw was also looking for a man. She was looking for a partner. She entered a shabby house on the outskirts of the village. In the past, we used a cooking tripod to cook food. But the boy was poor, so he used rocks as a tripod and cooked food on them. Ma Kaw brought her money and walked into that house. It was obvious that the house was poor. The orphan boy was uneducated and unknowledgeable. But Ma Kaw noticed that those rocks were gold. So she said to him, "I will marry you." The boy said, "You should not. I can't take care of you. I am not worthy of you and your money." She insisted, "Allow me to marry you." In the end, they married and started a family. Later, Ma Kaw asked him, "Where did you get these rocks?" He answered, "There are many over there. It's a bit far from here, and people can't reach it. I took these rocks from there." Then they collected those rocks and became rich. On the other hand, Ma Lu, who married a rich man, became poor because her husband was useless. All of their money was spent, and they became penniless. Ma Lu remembered what her father said and went to find her sister while holding half of the comb. She married a rich man and had children, but in the end, they had nothing left and became poor. She kept walking and walking. Later, she arrived at her sister's house. When they met, they didn't dare ask if they were sisters. However, they had a comb that their father gave them as their bond. They kept talking and asking each other about any special objects they had. After asking, they realized that they had different pieces of a comb. When they connected them, they fit perfectly. They learned that they were biological sisters. Through the memorial objects their parents gave them, they were able to reunite.
